local stuff.

I feel like today is a good day to push some local places/things/people that everyone needs to know about. Whether it be music, artists, authors, pastors, restaurants, coffee shops, venues, whatever, Cincinnati has some amazing things. Lanna and i went to Nashville last summer for our honeymoon and we fell in love with the small-town-local-love that people had for their city. I don’t think it’s any coincidence that almost immediately when we got home, our church, Crossroads did a series all about loving Cincinnati. Because of it, we completely fell in love with our city and where we are. I hope these things strike a chord with you and maybe even inspire you to look more into loving where you are.

First of, i frequent (actually sitting here right now) this amazing place called Redtree Art Gallery & Coffee Shop. Local art hanging on the walls, specialty items by local sellers, all fair trade coffee (Seven Hills Coffee Co.), the most amazing white chocolate mocha and the coolest/friendliest staff of any coffee shop i’ve ever been to all contribute to the overall vibe and feel. Nestled in the outskirts of Oakley Square, Redtree is literally a five-minute walk from our apartment, and we go every chance we get. It’s pretty amazing….seriously. You need to go.

I love seeing good, clean design. I’m a t-shirt and band flyer fanatic, and if i was any good at all at designing them, i’d definitely get these next two guys to do it with me.

Seth Williams is a relatively new friend of mine, but no lie, he’s one of the coolest guys i know and a solid designer.  I really love the feel of everything i’ve seen of his. Jonny B. has been on of closest friends for years now. I’ve learned A LOT from him. Together with our buddy Mike, we were in a band together for a long time called So At Last. Jonny is an AMAZING designer. He’s the only guy i know that could work for a major media company, design dozens and dozens on websites, logos, graphics AND teach advanced web design as the college level without having any a degree or education in the field. Not only is he a phenomenal guitarist, but an accomplished self-taught designer. He and his wife have started their own Design Company called RubyHaus.

Another endeavor Jonny is involved in is without another long-time friend of mine.

He is currently playing guitar for Brent Reed. Brent’s songwriting and musical direction is unlike anything else i’ve heard in Cincinnati/Northern KY. If you click on the picture, you can download Brent Reed’s 3 song e.p. for FREE! Download it and spread it like fire. Help get the word out about their music. It’s good stuff.

There’s so much more about Cincinnati that I love, but i could go on forever about it. So, for now, check out these, and let me know what you think.
